J&K flood tragedy deepens: Heavy rain hampers rescue as death toll rises to 12
Search and rescue operations in the flood-hit districts of Jammu and Kashmir faced fresh setbacks on Monday as continuous heavy rainfall and poor weather conditions slowed relief efforts. However, swollen streams, damaged roads, and persistent rainfall have made it difficult for rescuers and heavy machinery to access several villages.
Authorities have shifted many residents to safer locations and are providing food, shelter, and medical assistance to those displaced by the disaster. The India Meteorological Department has warned of continued rainfall in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, raising concerns over the possibility of more landslides and flash floods.
