Indian Army marks 1st anniversary of Operation Sindoor at Manipur University

Commemorating the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army organised a community outreach and awareness programme at Manipur University on Thursday to engage students and faculty members on issues related to national security, terrorism, and information warfare.
The event, attended by students and faculty from the Department of National Security Studies, focused on sensitising participants about the role of the Armed Forces in safeguarding the sovereignty and integrity of the nation and countering terrorism.
The programme began with an interactive session in which Army representatives revisited the objectives and operational aspects of Operation Sindoor. Officials highlighted the significance of the operation and encouraged informed discussions on national security challenges and strategic preparedness.
As part of the outreach initiative, the Army conducted awareness sessions and discussions aimed at promoting greater understanding of information warfare and the growing importance of responsible digital conduct. Participants were encouraged to act as “responsible information warriors” in protecting national interests in the evolving information landscape.
The event witnessed active participation from students and faculty members, who engaged in discussions, raised queries, and exchanged perspectives on contemporary security issues. Organisers said the interaction reflected increasing academic interest in defence and strategic studies.
According to the Army, the outreach programme was conducted in the spirit of community engagement and national awareness. The initiative also sought to strengthen collaboration between the Armed Forces and academic institutions while promoting peace, harmony, and inclusive development in the region.
The event reaffirmed the Indian Army’s continued commitment to public outreach and strategic awareness-building among the youth, particularly in the Northeast.
