India Book Market Report 2026–30 to launch on September 3

The Federation of Indian Publishers (FIP), in collaboration with NielsenIQ BookData, will launch the India Book Market Report 2026–2030 in New Delhi on September 3. The report offers a comprehensive assessment of the scale, structure, transformation and future growth opportunities of India’s publishing industry.
Building on the previous India Book Market Report released in 2022, the latest study examines key forces expected to shape publishing through 2030, including artificial intelligence, digitisation, emerging distribution models, the growth of Indian-language publishing and India’s expanding role in the global publishing ecosystem.
The report analyses print and digital publishing trends, including e-books and audiobooks, across school, higher education, trade and scholarly publishing. It also examines the industry’s economic contribution, employment, technology adoption, copyright and licensing, and the changing policy environment.
Pranav Gupta, Vice President, FIP and Project Leader of the report, said reliable data was essential for an industry of publishing’s scale and strategic importance. He described the report as an “industry infrastructure project” aimed at creating a common evidence base for discussions on investment, technology, education, copyright, Indian languages, exports and public policy.
Vikrant Mathur, Executive Director, NielsenIQ BookData, India & GCC, said India’s demographic profile, education ecosystem, linguistic diversity and technology adoption made it one of the world’s most exciting and complex publishing markets.
The report combines industry research, stakeholder consultations and market intelligence to support decision-making by publishers, policymakers, investors, educational institutions, technology companies, authors, booksellers and libraries.
Following its national launch, the report’s findings are expected to contribute to international discussions on Indian publishing, including at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2026.
