Hyderabad Software engineer booked over sexual harassment complaint by Dutch woman
A software engineer in Telangana has been booked on charges of sexually harassing his roommate's girlfriend, a 36-year-old nurse from the Netherlands, police said on Monday, July 27.
The woman filed a complaint at Hyderabad’s Gachibowli Police Station on July 23, alleging that the man stalked her, touched her inappropriately and sexually harassed her during a visit earlier this year, a police official said.
The alleged incident occurred in March, when the woman travelled to Hyderabad to visit her boyfriend and stayed at the flat, he shared with the accused, the official said.
She later returned to the Netherlands before coming back to Hyderabad recently to file the complaint, police said.
Based on her complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for assault on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, sexual harassment, stalking, and words, gestures or acts intended to insult a woman's modesty.
Police said a notice has also been issued to the accused.
