Woman claims husband bit off her nose; in-laws allege she bit his private parts: UP
A 27-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district has accused her husband of biting off her nose during a dispute, police said on Saturday.
The woman, identified as Sadhana, alleged that her husband Deepak assaulted her by hitting her on the head and biting off her nose before throwing it into a drain. She further alleged that her mother-in-law and father-in-law restrained her by holding her hands during the attack.
Police said Sadhana had allegedly left her husband around two and a half months ago to be with a lover. She returned unexpectedly on Thursday, entering her husband's house by jumping from a neighbour's roof, following which a dispute broke out.
Pushpraj, SHO of Sandi police station, said the couple got into a confrontation after Sadhana's return, during which Deepak allegedly assaulted her and bit off her nose.
After being informed about the incident, police reached the spot and took both Sadhana and Deepak to the police station. Deepak was later detained.
Police said Sadhana was first taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Sandi for treatment and was subsequently referred to Hardoi Medical College.
Deepak's family, however, has levelled allegations against Sadhana. His mother claimed that Sadhana had left with a local youth, who was also Deepak's friend, around two and a half months ago. The matter was reported to police at the time, following which a compromise was reached.
According to Deepak's mother, Sadhana returned unexpectedly and tried to take the couple's children with her, leading to an argument. She alleged that Sadhana bit her husband's private parts during the dispute and later injured herself by banging her head against the ground.
Sadhana and Deepak have been married for around 10 years and have three daughters, aged eight, six and three.
Police said Sadhana has not filed a formal complaint so far, while Deepak's mother has lodged a complaint.
Police are investigating the allegations and circumstances surrounding the incident. (with inputs from PTI)
