Gujarat Police bust Rs 2,289 cr cyber fraud

Gujarat Police has reported major progress in its fight against cybercrime after a state-wide operation targeting suspected mule bank accounts revealed cyber fraud transactions worth approximately Rs 2,289 crore.
The operation, led by the Cyber Centre of Excellence (CCOE), focused on identifying bank accounts allegedly used by cybercriminals to receive, transfer and conceal funds obtained through online fraud. Law enforcement agencies across the state coordinated efforts to track and investigate such accounts.
Officials said the initiative involved extensive data analysis and cooperation with national cybercrime platforms, banking institutions and law enforcement networks.
The operation aimed to strengthen action against financial channels frequently exploited in digital fraud cases.
Authorities also highlighted upcoming technological measures, including AI-based risk assessment systems designed to identify suspicious transactions and accounts more effectively.
These initiatives are expected to enhance preventive action against cyber-enabled financial crimes.
