Gujarat has become a global growth engine: CM Patel
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Saturday said the State’s development journey has attracted global attention and positioned Gujarat as one of the country’s key growth engines.
Addressing the State-level Independence Day celebrations at the Police Parade Ground in Amreli, Patel unfurled the national flag and inspected the ceremonial parade in an open jeep. Contingents of the Gujarat Police, women police personnel, Home Guards, traffic brigade, NCC and dog squad participated in the march-past.
The Chief Minister paid tribute to freedom fighters and martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice for the country. He also recalled the historic contribution of Amreli and Saurashtra to the freedom movement and remembered the leadership of Gujarat’s first Chief Minister, Dr Jivraj Mehta.
Highlighting Gujarat’s development priorities, Patel said the state has succeeded in attracting investment while adding new sectors to accelerate economic growth. He described Gujarat as a “growth engine” for India and said the State’s progress has now drawn the attention of the world.
Patel said the Government was focusing on balanced development of both urban and rural areas, with the benefits of development reaching districts such as Kutch as well. He also highlighted progress in healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure and welfare schemes as part of the broader vision of ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047’ and ‘Viksit Gujarat @ 2047’.
According to the Chief Minister, 25 new medical colleges have become operational in Gujarat over the past two decades. He also highlighted a Government healthcare initiative providing free treatment of up to Rs 10 lakh to eligible poor and middle-class families.
The Chief Minister also referred to Gujarat’s preparations to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, expressing confidence that the State would organise the event successfully. He announced that roads across the state would undergo renovation at an estimated cost of Rs 3,428 crore.
Patel concluded his address by urging citizens to take a collective pledge to contribute to the vision of a developed Gujarat by 2047.
