Goa CM Sawant meets Shah in Delhi to discuss ST seats

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on the issue of reserving seats for Scheduled Tribes in the State Assembly.
Sawant was accompanied by Union Minister Shripad Naik, Assembly Speaker Ganesh Gaonkar, State Art and Culture Minister Ramesh Tawadkar, Goa BJP president Damodar Naik and MLA Govind Gaude.
“Called on Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji in New Delhi today to discuss the implementation of ST Reservation in the Goa Legislative Assembly,” Sawant said in a post on X, adding he was grateful for Shah’s “positive assurance and full cooperation in ensuring implementation of this important matter”.
Parliament has passed The Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of the State of Goa Bill 2024.
During the visit to the national Capital, Sawant also met Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to discuss recruitment-related concerns at the National Institute of Technology in Goa.
He also met Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to discuss key projects under the railway ministry and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
