GDA demolishes illegal colony, structures in Modinagar

On 14 September 2026, under the leadership of the Officer-in-Charge, Enforcement Zone-2, Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), demolition action was carried out against an illegal colony being developed in the Modinagar area.
At Khasra Nos. 922, 923 and 924, located in Village Rori, behind Mangal Vihar Colony, Modinagar, an area of approximately 17,000 sqm was being illegally developed as a colony by Mukesh Thakur, son of Late Dharamveer Singh; Gaurav Chauhan, son of Kulbir Chauhan; M/s MG Properties; Jitendra Kumar, son of Rajveer Singh; and Sunil Vyas, son of Shivraj Vyas. Earth-filling work was being carried out for the construction of roads for the proposed illegal colony.
During the action, the authorities also identified unauthorised construction at Khasra No. 884, covering approximately 200 sq. metres, at Village Begambad, Budana, near Mahesh Park, Modinagar, Ghaziabad, where Amit and Sanjay Garg were carrying out pillar construction and wall masonry work below the plinth level. The work was immediately stopped, and the concerned persons were instructed not to undertake any further construction. No approved building plan related to the construction was produced at the site.
The RCC roads, boundary walls and illegal plotting developed by the colonisers in the unauthorised colony, along with illegal shops constructed on Mahesh Marg, were demolished by the GDA enforcement team.
During the demolition operation, local builders and colonizers strongly resisted the action. However, the Authority’s police force brought the situation under control, and the demolition proceedings were continued.
The demolition operation was carried out in the presence of the Assistant Engineer, Junior Engineer, entire staff of Enforcement Zone-2, GDA police personnel and the Authority’s enforcement squad.
The Ghaziabad Development Authority has stated that the campaign against unauthorised construction will continue, and demolition and sealing actions will also be carried out in the coming months.
