Punjab Gas Leak Tragedy: 3 Killed, 2 hospitalised at Ludhiana Machine Tool Factory

3 people lost their lives and 2 others were hospitalised after a suspected gas leak at a machine tool manufacturing factory in Punjab’s Ludhiana district on Monday, officials said.
The incident occurred in the early hours at an industrial unit located on RK Road in Ludhiana. According to police officials, the victims were exposed to toxic gas during a waste disposal or sewage tank cleaning operation inside the factory premises.
Authorities said three workers died after inhaling the gas, while two others fell unconscious and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their condition is currently being monitored.
Initial reports indicate that the victims may have been cleaning or handling waste near a sewage tank when the gas leak occurred. Police and local administration teams reached the spot soon after the incident and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the tragedy.
Ludhiana police officials stated that further inquiries are underway and safety procedures followed by the factory management are also being examined.
The incident has once again raised concerns over industrial safety standards and the handling of hazardous gases in factories and manufacturing units.
