FSSAI suspends Seven Seas Hospitality licence over serious hygiene, food safety violations

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has suspended the food business licence of Seven Seas Hospitality Pvt Ltd with immediate effect after an inspection found multiple serious hygiene and food safety violations.
The regulator said the establishment recorded a compliance score of just 30 per cent. Inspectors found water stagnation, foul odour, accumulated filth and inadequate housekeeping in food preparation areas.
Several food items were found to have deteriorated, including tomatoes, papaya, jaggery and cashew nuts with fungal growth. Rotten capsicum and degraded cooking oil were also detected.
The inspection further found inadequate segregation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, along with pest-control failures. Cockroaches and house flies were reportedly present on the premises.
FSSAI also flagged deficiencies in basic infrastructure, sanitation, record maintenance and water testing. Officials destroyed 74 kg/litres of food articles that were found to be non-compliant.
Following the inspection, FSSAI suspended the company’s licence and directed it to stop all food business activities for the duration of the suspension.
