Former Patna councillor shot at inside house, manhunt launched

A former Patna municipal councillor was shot at by unidentified assailants at his residence here on Wednesday, police said.

The incident occurred around 7.30 pm in the Buddha Colony police station area. The injured man was identified as Anil Yadav, who is also the husband of the sitting councillor from municipal ward number 24.

"Police received information that Yadav was shot at by three armed assailants while he was sitting in the basement of his house," Krishna Murari Prasad, SDPO-1 (Law and Order), told reporters.

The assailants fled the spot after the shooting. Yadav was taken to a private hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. Initial reports indicated that he sustained multiple bullet injuries, Prasad said.

"The matter is being investigated and a manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits," he said.

RJD national working president Tejashwi Yadav and Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor visited the hospital and enquired about Yadav's condition.

Speaking to reporters, Kishor alleged that law and order had completely collapsed in Bihar and claimed that there was a complete "jungleraj" in the state.  (with inputs from PTI)
