Five hospitalised with injuries after gas leak triggers blaze in hostel on IIT Bombay campus

Five people, including two children, were injured after a gas leak from a cylinder pipe caused a flare-up at a hostel on the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay campus in Powai on Thursday night, officials said.
The incident was reported at around 10.25 pm at Hostel No. 6, they said.
The injured were taken to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation-run Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar for treatment, an official said.
Four of the injured were later shifted to Kasturba Hospital in Chinchpokli, while one person remained admitted to Rajawadi Hospital.
The injured have been identified as Ansh Ahirwar (12), Tahjib Aalam (9), Ishwar Singh (37), Shivkumar Singh (34) and Anilkumar Yadav (23), the official said.
Police personnel and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation staff were deployed following the incident, the official added.
