EAM Jaishankar meets Zanzibar President, discusses cooperation in AI, Education and Healthcare

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Zanzibar President Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi in New Delhi and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation across key sectors, including higher education, artificial intelligence, healthcare, digital technology and water supply.
Sharing details of the meeting on X, Jaishankar said the discussions focused on expanding collaboration in priority areas such as capacity building, health, AI, digital infrastructure and water management.
"It was a pleasure to meet Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, President of Zanzibar, United Republic of Tanzania and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, today in Delhi," Jaishankar said.
The External Affairs Minister highlighted the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras Zanzibar campus as a symbol of the growing partnership between India and Zanzibar, describing it as a shining example of India's long-term commitment to Africa's education and development priorities.
The IIT Madras Zanzibar campus, inaugurated in 2023, is the first overseas campus of an IIT and reflects the deepening educational and technological cooperation between India and Tanzania.
The meeting reaffirmed both sides' commitment to enhancing bilateral ties through collaboration in education, innovation, healthcare and skill development.
