Dr Amita Chauhan gets lifetime achievement award for promoting science

Dr Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Group of Schools, has been conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award for her significant contribution towards promoting scientific curiosity, innovation and a scientific temperament among young learners.
The Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT-RC1) and Amity Children Science Foundation presented the award during the valedictory ceremony of the 40th National Annual Convention of the Indian Association of Physics Teachers, held at Amity University. Renowned scientist and former IIT Kanpur Professor HC Verma, Additional Director of Education, Delhi, Professor KS Upadhyay, and IAPT National President Professor PK Ahluwalia presented the award.
Expressing her gratitude, Dr Amita Chauhan said, “It is essential to nurture curiosity about science among young minds. At Amity, we encourage students not only to learn science in the classroom but also to engage in research and innovation and develop a scientific temperament. It is a matter of pride that students from Amity schools have filed nearly 230 patents.”
Professor PK Ahluwalia, National President, IAPT, said, “The four-day convention provided an important platform for sharing ideas and discussing advances in research and innovation. Dr Amita Chauhan’s visionary leadership has played a significant role in promoting experiential science education, innovation and scientific curiosity across Amity schools, inspiring generations of students to experiment, innovate and explore new possibilities.”
The valedictory ceremony also recognised winners of various national competitions. Dr Arun Grover, former Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, received the IAPT Rainbow International Physics Excellence Award.
Professor Rekha Ghorpade, Secretary, IAPT, Professor Surjan Singh, President, IAPT-RC1, and other academicians, teachers, scientists, and students attended the event.
