DMK again asks Rahul Gandhi to break silence on alleged TN voter deletions

The DMK on Wednesday renewed its demand that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi speak out on alleged large-scale deletions of voters in Tamil Nadu, citing a media report that claimed the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise had an impact on the 2026 Assembly election results.
DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai referred to the report in a post on X and questioned Gandhi's position on the issue.
Taking a swipe at the Congress leader, Annadurai wrote "Daro Math!" (don't be scared), contrasting Gandhi's allegations that elections were "stolen" in Bihar with what he described as his silence over developments in Tamil Nadu.
"Most notably, among the 135 constituencies where more than 20,000 voters were deleted, TVK won 84. In the 10 constituencies with more than 80,000 deletions, TVK won all 10," Annadurai claimed.
He asked Gandhi to clarify whether the SIR exercise had affected Tamil Nadu and the DMK and whether the Election Commission had acted fairly.
The DMK spokesperson's remarks came a day after INDIA bloc leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, marched from Parliament to the Election Commission office in New Delhi, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the SIR exercise.
Annadurai had also targeted Gandhi in a post on October 6, calling him "duplicitous" and accusing him of taking inconsistent positions on the electoral roll revision.
He questioned whether Gandhi was "afraid of @actorvijay" to speak against the SIR process in Tamil Nadu.
Annadurai also sought an explanation over why Gandhi had not publicly supported Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's purported demand for dissolution of state governments elected following the SIR exercise.
The DMK and Congress have been at odds following the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, after the Congress ended its long-standing alliance with the DMK and extended support to actor Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to form the government.
The developments have triggered a sharp political fallout between the two former allies.
