Severe waterlogging at IGI Airport raises concerns

Heavy rainfall lashed Delhi on Friday, causing waterlogging at the Indira Gandhi International Airport and disrupting movement of passengers. Visuals from the airport showed travellers wading through water and pushing luggage trolleys towards the terminal gates.

The downpour also affected flight operations, prompting Delhi Airport and airlines including IndiGo to issue advisories asking passengers to check their flight status and allow extra time for travel.

The India Meteorological Department issued warnings for heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds in the capital. More spells of rain were forecast through the evening, with waterlogging and traffic disruptions expected in several parts of Delhi-NCR.
