Delhi EV policy gets 5,678 incentive applications since July

The Delhi government has received 5,678 applications for incentives under the Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2026 since the scheme came into effect in July, officials said on Thursday.

Of the applications received, 1,664 have been processed so far, with the government disbursing Rs 4.8 crore under various incentive categories.

Two-wheelers accounted for the bulk of the processed applications, with 1,648 beneficiaries receiving a total of Rs 4.6 crore, a government official said.

The remaining 4,014 applications are currently being processed.

The policy came into effect on July 1, with 5,678 applications received so far. Government data showed that 5,621 of these applications were for electric two-wheelers.

Under the policy, buyers of electric two-wheelers can receive incentives of up to Rs 30,000 in the first year, Rs 20,000 in the second year and Rs 10,000 in the third year.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched the Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2026 online portal on July 3 to allow residents to apply for the incentives.

The policy also provides a scrapping incentive of Rs 1 lakh for eligible BS-IV or older cars and Rs 10,000 for eligible BS-IV or older two-wheelers purchased along with a new electric vehicle.

So far, 41 new EV buyers have received incentives under the scrapping component of the policy.  (with inputs from PTI)
