Delhi CM holds public hearing at Jan Seva Sadan
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday held a public hearing at Jan Seva Sadan, where she heard grievances from citizens across the Capital on issues ranging from pensions, education, and healthcare to property matters and scheme regularisation. The Chief Minister directed officials of concerned departments to resolve all cases on priority in a time-bound manner.
A large number of women also met the Chief Minister during the hearing, expressing gratitude for the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, which was approved by the Cabinet on July 28 and whose online portal opened on August 1.
The women described the scheme as a landmark initiative for economic empowerment, saying it has created new hope by placing women’s dignity, self-reliance, and financial security at the forefront.
The Chief Minister thanked them and said the Government is fully committed to the holistic development of women and to making them self-reliant.
On pensions, the Chief Minister took serious note of complaints received during the hearing and separately instructed officials to examine each case individually and ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive pension benefits within the stipulated timeframe. Pension-related grievances have historically been among the most common categories at public hearings, often involving elderly citizens whose applications have been pending for extended periods due to documentation gaps or administrative delays.
The hearing covered property-related matters, Ayushman Bharat scheme access, and regularisation issues alongside the pension and welfare scheme complaints.
After reviewing each case, the Chief Minister directed concerned officials to take prompt action and ensure every eligible citizen receives the benefits of Government welfare schemes.
CM said the public hearing is not merely a platform for addressing complaints but a means of strengthening public trust and reinforcing the Government’s commitment to good governance. She said the Government’s objective is to ensure that every citizen’s grievance is heard with sensitivity, transparency, and within a defined timeframe.
The Jan Seva Sadan public hearing is a regular mechanism the Delhi Government uses for direct citizen access to the Chief Minister’s office. The format, where citizens bring their complaints directly to a venue where senior officials are also present, allows for immediate direction to be issued to the relevant department rather than requiring citizens to navigate the complaint system independently after the hearing. The presence of women specifically coming to thank the Chief Minister for the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana at a public hearing held just five days after the portal opened is a visible indicator of the scheme’s resonance among its intended beneficiaries.
The portal opened on August 1 with the Chief Minister personally registering the first applicants at a programme in Geeta Colony. The Government has set a target of releasing the first instalment to eligible women by Raksha Bandhan, which falls later this month, creating a tight operational window for application processing, eligibility verification, and disbursement.
The range of issues raised at Wednesday’s hearing reflects the breadth of grievances that accumulate in a city of Delhi’s size and complexity. Property regularisation, scheme access, and pension delays are structural problems that require sustained administrative attention beyond what a single public hearing can resolve, which is why the Chief Minister’s direction to officials to ensure time-bound resolution of each case.
