DD National revamps prime-time line-up with classic shows, family entertainment

Doordarshan National is set to launch a refreshed prime-time entertainment lineup featuring a mix of quiz shows, social dramas and comedy programmes aimed at bringing family audiences back to television screens.
The public broadcaster announced that the new programming slate will focus on wholesome entertainment combining knowledge, social awareness and family values, while also reviving nostalgia through the return of several iconic television formats.
Among the biggest highlights is the return of the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati, which will air Monday to Friday at 9 PM on Doordarshan National. Hosted by veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, the show has long been regarded as one of India’s most successful knowledge-based television programmes.
Officials said the show would continue its tradition of showcasing inspiring stories of ordinary Indians while testing contestants on subjects ranging from Indian culture and history to sports, science, cinema and current affairs.
Doordarshan National will also introduce RAJNI 2.0, a contemporary social drama centred around a strong female protagonist dealing with social challenges and family issues. The programme, scheduled to air at 8 PM from Monday to Friday, aims to blend social messaging with emotional storytelling.
In the comedy segment, viewers will see the launch of Office Office — Chali Musaddi Ki Beti, a new adaptation inspired by the cult satire series “Office Office.” The show will portray the struggles of common citizens through humour and satire while highlighting contemporary social issues. It will air at 8:30 PM on weekdays.
The broadcaster said the revamped lineup has been designed to appeal to audiences across generations by combining entertainment with meaningful and relatable content.
All the programmes will also be available on Waves OTT, allowing viewers to stream content on mobile phones, tablets and smart televisions.
Officials stated that the initiative reflects Doordarshan National’s continued effort to promote Indian culture, family-oriented storytelling and socially relevant entertainment while adapting to evolving digital viewing habits.
