DC vs KKR IPL 2026 Delhi traffic advisory routes to avoid parking and metro details

Delhi Traffic Police has issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of the IPL 2026 clash between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders at Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 8.
The day-night match is scheduled from 7 pm to 10:30 pm, and authorities have warned of heavy congestion around central Delhi during match hours.
According to the advisory, traffic diversions and restrictions are likely to remain in place from 5 pm until midnight depending on crowd movement and vehicle pressure near the stadium.
Heavy and commercial vehicles will not be allowed on several major routes around the venue.
The restricted routes include:
- Daryaganj to Delhi Gate Chowk via Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg
- Delhi Gate Chowk to Guru Nanak Chowk via Jawaharlal Nehru Marg
- ITO to Delhi Gate Chowk via Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg
Delhi Traffic Police has also advised commuters to avoid key roads near the stadium during the match.
These include:
- Jawaharlal Nehru Marg from Rajghat to Delhi Gate
- Asaf Ali Road from Turkman Gate to Delhi Gate
- Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg from Delhi Gate to ITO
Officials said congestion is expected to peak before the start of the match and immediately after it concludes.
Stadium Entry Routes
Spectators have been instructed to use designated entry routes based on their gate numbers.
South Side Entry
- Gates 1 to 8 through Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg
East Side Entry
- Gates 10 to 15 through Jawaharlal Nehru Marg near Ambedkar Stadium Bus Terminal
West Side Entry
- Gates 16 to 18 through Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg near the petrol pump area
Parking Restrictions
Parking near Arun Jaitley Stadium will only be allowed for vehicles carrying authorised parking labels.
Free public parking has been arranged at:
- Mata Sundari Road
- Rajghat Power House Road
- Velodrome Road
Park-and-ride facilities will also operate from these locations.
Parking For Labelled Vehicles
Authorities have earmarked dedicated parking zones for labelled vehicles:
- P1: JP Park near Gate No 3
- P2: Vikram Nagar near Shahidi Park
- P3: Near JJB Prayas Office for two-wheelers
- P4: Between Gate No 7 and 8 near JJB Prayas Office
No Parking Zones
No parking will be allowed on:
- Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg
- Jawaharlal Nehru Marg
- Ring Road stretch between Rajghat and IP Flyover
Police warned that illegally parked vehicles would be towed and prosecuted.
Cab Pick-Up And Drop Points
Dedicated app-based taxi pick-up and drop-off points have also been notified:
- Gate No 2 near Maulana Azad Medical College on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg
- Rajghat Chowk
- Service lane on Ring Road between IP Flyover and Rajghat

Delhi Traffic Police has strongly advised cricket fans to use Delhi Metro and public transport to avoid delays caused by heavy traffic near the stadium.
Authorities have also urged spectators to arrive early due to expected congestion and mandatory security checks before entry into the venue.
