CM Naidu sets 2029 target for permanent houses

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday directed officials to implement ‘Housing for All’ programme on a saturation basis with the objective of providing a permanent house for every eligible family in the State by 2029.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to complete 5.52 lakh houses by March 2027, said an official release.
“Naidu directed officials to implement the Housing for All programme on a saturation basis, with the objective of providing a permanent house to every eligible family in the state by 2029,” it said.
During a review meeting, the CM instructed officials to ground all housing projects to be taken up under various schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) and PM Janman by next month. He instructed officials to construct 1.5 lakh houses in urban areas, and complete over two lakh houses by December 2026 and another 2.74 lakh houses by March 2027 to make them ready for housewarming ceremonies.
Meanwhile, officials apprised the CM of the 18.72 lakh houses that had been sanctioned in the state under PMAY 1.0, PMAY 2.0 and PM Janman, out of which 13.2 lakh houses have been completed so far.
Under the Andhra Pradesh Housing Corporation, construction of 11.31 lakh houses, out of a total 16.11 lakh houses, has been completed and under Andhra Pradesh Township and Infrastructure Development Corporation (AP TIDCO) 1.88 lakh houses out of 2.61 lakh houses have been completed, officials said
The CM directed officials to ensure the sanction of 75,000 new houses by December 2027 and bring another 1.5 lakh houses into the pipeline.
Officials were asked to coordinate with the Union Ministries of Rural Development and Housing & Urban Affairs to secure the required allocations.
Further, Naidu directed officials to identify the actual demand among families having no housing sites by integrating data from various departments.
Likewise, the CM instructed officials to publish preliminary beneficiary lists at the village and ward secretariat level, invite objections, resolve them transparently and then finalise the beneficiary lists.
Similarly, the CM directed officials to implement housing construction in Kuppam Assembly constituency on a saturation basis.
Naidu reiterated that providing a safe and permanent house to every eligible family in the state by 2029 is the government’s objective, directing all departments to work in coordination to achieve the ‘Housing for All’ target.
Further, he directed the Housing Department to focus on developing industrial townships in various parts of the state with Central Government support.
He said that establishing industrial townships in industrial areas, including Sri City would create greater scope for increased economic activity and transactions.
Naidu instructed officials to coordinate with the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) for developing these townships.
