CISF jawan dies while patrolling; Possible suicide

A 25-year-old Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable died after suffering a gunshot wound from his service rifle while on duty at the Rajasthan Atomic Power Plant in Chittorgarh district on Saturday, August 22, police said.
The incident took place around 4.30 am near the reactor building at the Rawatbhata nuclear power complex, where the jawan, identified as Pramir Sarkar of West Bengal, was deployed for security duty.
According to Chittorgarh Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Singh, the incident prima facie appears to be a case of suicide involving Sarkar’s INSAS rifle.
Sarkar’s colleagues rushed to the location after hearing the gunshot and found him lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to the Rajasthan Atomic Power Plant Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police have begun an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officials have not disclosed any possible reason or motive for the suspected suicide so far.
The incident occurred at the Rajasthan Atomic Power Plant in Rawatbhata, a nuclear power facility in Chittorgarh district that operates under the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL).
