Chandigarh police arrest 3 BKI operatives, foil IED terror plot

Chandigarh Police said on Monday they foiled a major terror plot with the arrest of three suspected operatives of the banned outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
The suspects were identified as Lovepreet Singh, Jashanpreet Singh and Prabhpreet Singh. They were apprehended following specific intelligence inputs, police said.
Police recovered about five kilograms of gelatin stick explosives, a detonator, a remote-operated triggering device, a pistol and live ammunition from their possession.
Investigations revealed that the trio operated under instructions from foreign-based BKI handler Satnam Singh Satta to plant an IED in Chandigarh at the behest of Pakistan's ISI, reported media.
The accused will be produced before the Chandigarh District Court for extended police custody and further interrogation.
