BRPNNL delegation felicitated by BRO for support in Vikramshila Setu restoration

A delegation of Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited (BRPNNL), led by its Managing Director, Jitendra Kumar, visited the headquarters of the Additional Director General Border Roads (East), Guwahati, and was felicitated by Jitendra Prasad, VSM, Additional Director General, for the organisation’s outstanding support during the restoration of the damaged Vikramshila Setu at Bhagalpur, Bihar.
Vikramshila Setu, a vital bridge connecting North and South Bihar, suffered the collapse of a suspended span on May 4, 2026, disrupting traffic and connectivity to the Seemanchal region. Following a request from the Government of Bihar, the Ministry of Defence entrusted the restoration task to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). Responsibility for the restoration was given by the DGBR to Jitendra Prasad, ADG, who immediately formulated a team under the leadership of Bipin Kumar Chand, Superintending Engineer (Civil). The team, under guidance of Jitendra Prasad and under supervision of Brig Amit Sakhre, CE (P) Swastik, successfully restored the bridge by launching four Bailey bridges and reopened it to traffic on 07 June 2026.
Throughout the operation, BRPNNL provided crucial support in coordination, logistics, technical facilitation and local administration, contributing significantly to the timely completion of the mission. In recognition of this cooperation, six BRPNNL officials, including Managing Director Jitendra Kumar and Superintending Engineer Shashi Bhushan Singh, were felicitated during the ceremony.
Welcoming the delegation, Bipin Kumar Chand briefed the gathering on the challenges encountered during the operation and the innovative engineering measures adopted to restore the bridge within an exceptionally short timeframe.
Speaking on the occasion, Jitendra Prasad highlighted that the successful restoration of Vikramshila Setu was a shining example of inter-agency cooperation, technical excellence and commitment to public service. The event underscored the strong partnership between BRO and the Government of Bihar in strengthening critical infrastructure and serving the people.
