BMC Bank crosses Rs 4,000 crore business milestone

Bombay Mercantile Co-operative Bank Ltd recorded significant growth across key financial and business parameters during FY 2025-26, reaffirming its focus on sustainable growth, financial strength and improved customer service.
Addressing shareholders at the Bank’s 89th Annual General Meeting held at Haj House, Mumbai, on September 4, Chairman Zeeshan Mehdi said the Bank’s total business crossed the Rs 4,000 crore milestone, rising nearly 6 per cent from Rs 3,925 crore to Rs 4,165 crore.
Despite global turbulence and economic uncertainties, the Bank achieved an operating profit of Rs 66 crore, registering a growth of over 65 per cent. Net profit also increased significantly from Rs 2.38 crore to Rs 14.37 crore. “The results reflect the collective efforts of our Board, Management and Employees, along with the continued trust and support of our Shareholders and Customers,” Mehdi said.
Speaking to the media, Interim Managing Director Ishraq Ali Khan said deposits grew 6.42 per cent to Rs 2,700 crore, while advances increased 5.54 per cent to Rs 1,465 crore. The Bank also strengthened its asset quality, with Gross NPA declining 15 per cent from Rs 84 crore to Rs 71 crore. Gross NPA and Net NPA ratios stood at 4.84 per cent and 1.44 per cent, respectively, while CRAR improved to 13.70 per cent, above the regulatory requirement.
The Bank’s foreign exchange business registered a robust 42 per cent growth, reaching Rs 12,896 crore. Khan said the improvement in profitability and asset quality resulted from focused recovery efforts, prudent lending, better financial management and greater operational efficiency.
Going forward, the Bank will continue to strengthen its digital capabilities, cyber security and customer services while maintaining financial discipline and sustainable growth.
