Blast Outside BSF Headquarters Jalandhar Delivery Boy Scooter Explosion Probe Underway

An explosion outside the Border Security Force (BSF) Punjab Frontier Headquarters in Jalandhar Cantonment on Tuesday evening triggered panic after a delivery worker’s scooter was blown apart.
The incident occurred around 8 pm near BSF Chowk when Gurpreet Singh, a delivery executive with a private company, arrived to deliver a parcel to a BSF personnel. While he went inside the premises, a powerful blast ripped through his parked scooter, setting it on fire and completely destroying the vehicle.
The explosion also caused minor damage to nearby structures, including shattered window panes. Gurpreet Singh, who was about 50 metres away at the time after completing the delivery, sustained injuries.
Police suspect the blast may be linked to explosives inside a parcel that was still on the scooter. However, officials have not confirmed the exact cause, and investigations are ongoing.
CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined, while police and forensic teams are working to determine the source of the explosion.
The incident caused widespread alarm, with eyewitnesses reporting that the sound of the blast was heard up to a kilometre away. Fire brigade teams rushed to the spot and brought the flames under control.
Police said the injured delivery worker has been taken for questioning as part of the investigation. No casualties have been reported.
