Bihar CMO employee booked over photo of minor victim on CM's X handle

PATNA: Bihar Police have registered an FIR against a Chief Minister's Office employee for allegedly posting a photograph that could reveal the identity of a minor molestation victim and her family on Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary's official X handle.

The employee identified as Sagar Prasad, a stenographer in the CMO, and said the case was registered at Patna's Sachivalaya police station. The complaint invokes provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the POCSO Act and the Information Technology Act.

The photograph showed Choudhary meeting the girl and three members of her family and was deleted within minutes, the report said. The accompanying post said the chief minister had assured the family of speedy justice.

An FIR had been registered against the CMO official over the post.The case concerned the alleged disclosure of the minor victim's identity through the chief minister's social-media account.

RJD MP Misa Bharti approached the police seeking action against the chief minister, while police said her application would form part of the inquiry already under way. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav also criticised the post.

Police said no person should be treated as guilty before the investigation is completed.
