Bhoomi Pujan held for Rohini’s Sanatan Sanskaram Ramleela 2026, event to run from October 9 to 20

The Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for Sanatan Sanskaram Ramleela 2026 was held on Sunday at the DDA Ramleela Ground in Sector 23, Rohini, marking the formal start of preparations for this year’s festival, which will run from October 9 to 20 under the theme “From Tradition to the Future.”

BJP National Vice President Lal Singh Arya attended the ceremony as Chief Guest. Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi, former District President Satyanarayan Gautam, scholar and priest Pandit Dr Raj Kumar Sharma, Nupur Sharma, Ajay Bhai Maharaj and Sant Pagal Baba were among those present, along with Ramleela Committee members, organisers and a large number of devotees.

Actor and MP Arun Govil, known for his portrayal of Lord Ram, could not attend in person due to engagements related to the BRICS Summit, but conveyed his best wishes for the event through a video message.
The ceremony was conducted according to Vedic traditions, with acharyas and priests performing the rituals amid chanting of sacred mantras, and prayers offered for the successful conduct of the Ramleela. 
Highlights of the cultural programmes planned for the festival were also showcased on the occasion.

Building on the response received last year, organisers said this year’s Ramleela is being planned on a larger scale, with more than 100 artists set to perform the life story of Lord Ram and key episodes from the Ram Katha on an elaborate stage. 

The presentation will incorporate modern lighting, large LED screens and stage technology.
The festival will feature episodes including Ahilya Uddhar, the birth of Sita, Sita Swayamvar, the Lakshman-Parashuram dialogue and Ram Baraat, alongside special programmes such as Maharas Ratri and Shyam Baba’s Shringar Jhanki. 

Delhi Social Welfare Minister and Bawana MLA Ravinder Indraj Singh, speaking at the event, said he has been associated with the Ramleela for a long time and has actively participated in it with his family. 
He said the affection received from Delhi residents last year had inspired organisers to expand this year’s event further.

Singh said familiarising younger generations with India’s culture, traditions and values remained important in changing times, describing Ramleela as a powerful medium to connect youth with Sanatan culture, and citing the life of Lord Ram as teaching values of dignity, truth, sacrifice, service and duty.
