Assam Police summon Surjewala; Gaurav Gogoi expected to be next

Assam Crime Branch has summoned Congress leader Randeep Surjewala in the case filed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sharma. It is learned that Pawan Khera has confessed to the police that the fake passport documents were given to him by Surjewala. Sources from the police said that Gaurav Gogoi gave the fake documents to Surjewala, and after interrogating Surjewala, Gogoi will be summoned.

The Crime Branch has directed Surjewala to appear before investigators in Guwahati on May 23. The case originated after Congress spokesperson Khera allegedly made controversial remarks concerning the wife of the Chief Minister during a press briefing. Khera alleged that the Chief Minister’s wife is illegally holding three countries’ passports, and he showed documents regarding this allegation.

According to sources, significant revelations came out during the questioning of Khera. He had named those who were involved in creating documents against the Chief Minister’s wife.
