Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday inspected the ongoing construction of the new Assam Bhawan in New Delhi and reviewed the progress of the project aimed at strengthening Assam’s presence in the national Capital.
During the visit, the Chief Minister assessed the pace and quality of the construction work and interacted with officials supervising the project. Resident Commissioner of Assam Bhawan, Kavita Padmanabhan, was also present during the inspection.
Sarma directed officials to ensure that the project is completed within the stipulated timeline while maintaining high construction standards. He stressed that no compromise should be made on the quality of work or the execution of the planned facilities.
Officials briefed the Chief Minister on the current status of the construction and informed him about efforts being made to accelerate the work in compliance with prescribed standards.
The upcoming Assam Bhawan, being constructed on Sardar Patel Marg, is expected to provide improved accommodation and administrative support facilities for people from Assam visiting Delhi.
The project is also seen as a key infrastructure initiative to enhance the State’s institutional presence in the national Capital.
According to officials, the new building will include three basement levels, a ground floor and six upper floors.
