Arunachal Pradesh achieves 100% home electrification and tap water coverage: CM Khandu

Arunachal Pradesh has reached 100 per cent home electrification and tap water coverage, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said on Saturday, adding that his government's goal is to ensure scheme benefits reach every household.
In a post on X, he noted that by 2016, roughly 1.48 lakh homes in the state had electricity — just 49 per cent of all households.
"Ten years later, the picture has completely changed. Today, 3.02 lakh homes have electricity. That is 100 per cent home electrification."
The chief minister said progress in drinking water access had been even more striking.
"In 2016, only 22,796 homes had functional tap connections. That is only 9.9 per cent. In 2026, this figure has reached 2,28,566 homes. That is 100 per cent coverage and 903 per cent exponential growth," Khandu said.
"Over the past 10 years, Arunachal Pradesh has made a big difference in two basic needs, electricity and drinking water," he added in his post. (with inputs from PTI)
