Arunachal achieves 100 per cent home electrification: CM

Arunachal Pradesh has achieved 100 per cent home electrification and tap water provision, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said on Saturday and asserted that his Government aims to ensure that the benefits of schemes reach every household.
In a post on X, he said that by 2016, around 1.48 lakh homes in Arunachal Pradesh had electricity, accounting for only 49 per cent of the households in the State.
“Ten years later, the picture has completely changed. Today, 3.02 lakh homes have electricity. That is 100 per cent home electrification.”
The chief minister said the expansion of drinking water coverage had been even more remarkable.
“In 2016, only 22,796 homes had functional tap connections. That is only 9.9 per cent. In 2026, this figure has reached 2,28,566 homes. That is 100 per cent coverage and 903 per cent exponential growth,” Khandu added.
“Over the past 10 years, Arunachal Pradesh has made a big difference in two basic needs, electricity and drinking water,” Khandu added in his post.
