Army to boost veteran healthcare in Nagaland
In a major boost to healthcare infrastructure for the ex-servicemen fraternity in Nagaland, the Station Commander of Zakhama Military Station attended the Bhumi Pujan ceremony on Friday for the construction of a permanent building for the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Polyclinic in Kohima.
The ceremony marks the commencement of a long-awaited infrastructure project aimed at enhancing the quality and accessibility of medical care for veterans and their dependants across Kohima and its adjoining districts. Following the ceremony, the Station Commander inspected the polyclinic’s temporary premises at Sainik Bhawan. During the visit, he reviewed the existing medical infrastructure and commended staff for ensuring a swift, seamless relocation that prevented any disruption to healthcare services for beneficiaries.
He also held interactions with the Director of Rajya Sainik Board, the Officer-in-Charge of the polyclinic, and administrative personnel to discuss measures for veteran welfare in the region. A defence spokesperson stated that the visit reaffirmed the Indian Army’s commitment to ensuring high-quality healthcare delivery for veterans and their families, adding that the upcoming permanent facility will substantially improve medical outreach in Nagaland.
