Andhra to host PanIIT Summit in Vijayawada; ₹500-crore DeepTech fund, quantum computers expected

Vijayawada will host the PanIIT Andhra Pradesh Summit 2026 on 3 October, with the State government and the global IIT alumni network expected to announce a permanent council, a ₹500-crore DeepTech fund and five quantum computers for an Amaravati Quantum Valley.
The summit, themed “Andhra’s Resilient DeepTech Decade — Anchored by PanIIT,” opens tomorrow at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Kala Vedika. More than 800 delegates are expected, including over 50 corporate CEOs and CXOs, more than 100 unicorn founders and startup leaders, over 50 investors and family offices, IIT directors, academicians and policymakers from India and abroad.
A gala dinner hosted this evening by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for directors, industry leaders, founders and investors opens the two-day programme. IT, Electronics and Communications Minister Nara Lokesh will address the inaugural session. Naidu is scheduled to visit the technology exhibition and pavilions and deliver the valedictory keynote.
Expected announcements include the PanIIT Amaravati Global Council, a permanent body with a secretariat in Amaravati jointly set up by PanIIT Alumni India and the State, linking the roughly 500,000-strong global IIT alumni network to Andhra Pradesh’s development agenda through quarterly meetings and public reporting. An Amaravati Declaration for Swarna Andhra is also expected, aligning collaboration with Swarna Andhra @2047 and Viksit Bharat 2047.
The PanIIT Andhra Fund, targeting ₹500 crore, is meant to back ventures founded and scaled in the State. Organisers also list the Q-Shiva launch of five quantum computers as the core of the Amaravati Quantum Valley, and a DeepTech policy package to be notified by January 2027, covering energy, quantum, AI, semiconductors, space and defence, health, agri-tech and skilling.
Further commitments include 100 industry research chairs, a 100-member global IIT mentor network, an Amaravati DeepTech Fellowship and a technology-transfer pipeline from the IITs and 25 NMICPS hubs. Panels will cover energy, Deep Tech, defence manufacturing, health access and agri-tech, alongside roundtables of IIT directors, industry leaders and investors.
Stated milestones include a secretariat by 1 November 2026, policy notification and a technology catalogue by 1 January 2027, and a fund first close by 1 July 2027.
PanIIT Alumni India chairman Prabhat Kumar said Andhra Pradesh was asking the IIT community “to build together,” not for charity. Vice chair Dr Amitabh Ranjan called the summit a founding moment for institutions meant to outlast those in the room.
