Anant Ambani donates 25 electric buses to boost Tirumala’s free mobility drive

Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani has donated 25 electric buses worth Rs 27.5 crore to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), along with funding for 50 drivers and EV charging infrastructure, giving a major boost to the temple body’s green mobility initiative.
The donation, announced during his visit to the hill shrine on Sunday, is the largest single private contribution to TTD’s ongoing electrification programme and is expected to strengthen sustainable transport services for millions of pilgrims visiting Tirumala each year.
The contribution marks the largest single private donation to TTD’s ongoing electrification programme and is expected to significantly strengthen sustainable transport services for the millions of pilgrims who visit the hill shrine every year.
Following the religious ceremonies, Ambani announced the comprehensive EV support package. The donation includes 25 electric buses, each valued at approximately Rs 1.1 crore, taking the total value of the fleet to Rs 27.5 crore.
Beyond the vehicles themselves, Reliance has committed to funding the salaries of 50 bus drivers and establishing EV charging stations within the TTD complex. The integrated support addresses two of the biggest challenges in expanding electric public transport fleets—availability of trained personnel and reliable charging infrastructure—ensuring the buses can be deployed and operated efficiently.
The latest contribution significantly advances TTD’s long-term vision of creating an environmentally sustainable transport ecosystem in Tirumala, where electric buses are increasingly being adopted to reduce emissions and improve air quality in the ecologically sensitive hill town. In addition to the mobility initiative, Ambani also pledged support for the modernisation of the TTD goshala.
