Alok Tiwari entrusted with additional charge of managing director of DFCCIL

Alok Tiwari, IRSE, Additional Member (Bridge), Railway Board, has been entrusted with the additional charge of Managing Director of Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), in addition to his existing responsibilities.
Tiwari assumed charge of the post on October 5, 2026. He was welcomed at the DFCCIL Corporate Office by Shobhit Bhatnagar, Director/OP&BD; Anurag Sharma, Director/ Infrastructure; Pawan K Rai, Director/Project Planning; and B Mugunthan, Director/ Finance, along with other senior officials of DFCCIL.
A 1988-batch IRSE officer, Tiwari has over 36 years of experience in Indian Railways, with extensive exposure to railway infrastructure planning, project execution, construction, safety, freight operations and administration.
Throughout his career, he has worked across the full project life cycle and has directly constructed and commissioned more than 1,000 km of railway infrastructure.
Extensive experience in railway infrastructure
Tiwari has held several key positions during his career, including Chief Administrative Officer, South East Central Railway; Principal Chief Safety Officer, South Western Railway; Divisional Railway Manager, Guntakal; and Chief Project Manager-cum-Group General Manager, RVNL.
His experience covers technical planning, major infrastructure projects, safety management, freight operations and organisational administration.
After assuming charge as Managing Director, Tiwari chaired a review meeting at the DFCCIL Corporate Office to take stock of key activities, ongoing works and operational priorities.
The meeting covered critical aspects of Dedicated Freight Corridor operations, construction, maintenance, asset reliability, safety, project progress and overall organisational performance.
Focus on Technology, Automation and Efficiency
During the review meeting, Tiwari emphasised the need for a coordinated, outcome-oriented, technology-driven approach across all functions, with a clear focus on improving efficiency, reliability, and productivity.
The meeting also discussed aligning the proposed East-West Dedicated Freight Corridor (EWDFC) and the way forward for its planning and development.
The meeting placed particular emphasis on greater mechanisation and automation in maintenance, adopting modern construction methodologies, wider use of precast solutions, and deploying Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies to enhance asset performance and enable data-driven decision-making.
Emphasis on knowledge management
The new Managing Director also stressed the importance of strengthening knowledge management and institutional memory within DFCCIL.
He called for creating a comprehensive digital repository of drawings and critical project data at the Corporate Office, supported by robust backup and archival arrangements. The initiative aims to ensure systematic preservation and effective utilisation of institutional knowledge.
Tiwari also called on officers to maintain a strong focus on quality, cost-effectiveness, timely execution, and operational excellence while leveraging technology and innovation to enhance DFCCIL’s capabilities further.
With extensive experience in railway infrastructure, freight operations, safety, and project management, Tiwari takes charge at a key stage in the evolution of India’s Dedicated Freight Corridor network.
His leadership is expected to strengthen further DFCCIL’s focus on operational efficiency, asset reliability, technological innovation, and infrastructure excellence.
DFCCIL is entrusted with developing and operating the Dedicated Freight Corridors to enhance freight transportation capacity, improve logistics efficiency, and facilitate faster, safer, and more efficient movement of goods across the country.
