4 Dead, 10 injured after luxury bus catches fire following tanker collision in Gujarat

At least four passengers were killed and ten others injured after a private luxury bus caught fire following a collision with a tanker in Gujarat’s Surendranagar district early Thursday morning.
The accident took place around 2:30 am near Sangani village on the Chotila-Rajkot National Highway, police said.
According to officials, the luxury bus was travelling from Ahmedabad to Rajkot carrying nearly 40 passengers when it rammed into a tanker moving ahead of it.
Deputy Superintendent of Police SS Bhadoriya said the collision reportedly occurred after the tanker’s tyre burst, causing the vehicle to lose control. The bus then crashed into the rear of the tanker, triggering a massive fire within seconds.
Both vehicles were engulfed in flames soon after the collision. Authorities are yet to confirm what material the tanker was carrying at the time of the accident.
The fire spread rapidly, leading to panic among passengers, many of whom rushed to escape from the burning bus.
Police said four passengers were burnt to death in the incident, while ten others sustained burn injuries. The injured were shifted to Rajkot Civil Hospital for treatment.
Fire brigade teams rushed to the spot after receiving information about the accident and managed to bring the blaze under control.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
