'500 CM Schools of Excellence to be opened next 5 years'

School Education Minister Ramdas Soren has said that 500 CM Schools of Excellence will be opened in Jharkhand in the next five years. He said that there are currently 80 such schools in the state, which will be increased to 160 in the next two years.

Ramdas Soren said that a dual education system is currently running in Jharkhand. "On one hand, children of the rich class study in English medium schools. On the other hand, poor children have to study in Hindi medium. To end this, the government has planned to give the opportunity to study in English medium to the children as well. The aim of CM School of Excellence is to provide CBSE-recognized English medium education to poor students," he added.

The Minister said that Chief Minister Hemant Soren had started this scheme in the previous government. "After the opening of 500 CM Schools of Excellence, there will be a big change in the education system of the state. Poor children will also become eligible for jobs in the country and abroad. He said that students studying from CBSE get more opportunities in competitive examinations because most of the questions in the examinations are prepared on the basis of CBSE board. This scheme will give equal opportunities to poor children and the level of education in the state will improve," he said.

Soren said that there is a huge shortage of teachers in the state. "To overcome this, the government has decided to recruit 52 thousand teachers. But at present the matter of recruitment of 26 thousand teachers is pending in the Supreme Court. After the court's decision, 26 thousand teachers will be appointed in the first phase and then 26 thousand more teachers will be appointed in the second phase," he said.
