Unidentified miscreants struck terror in the chief minister’s native town when they opened indiscriminate fire at the son of the Zila Panchayat member who is said to be family friend of Samajwadi Party supremo, Mulayam Singh Yadav and gunned him down on Wednesday night.
The deceased was set to get married on November 21.Surprisingly the killers who were said to 12 in numbers had used half a dozen sophisticated weapons and pumped 35 bullets in the body of the victim. This in not all, they also stabbed the victim before fleeing from the spot pointing that they wanted to sent a message in the district that who so ever will raise their head against them will meet such tragic end. Agitated with the gruesome killing, the relatives and local villagers staged a huge protest and blocked the national highway for over four hours. They kept the body on the road and not allowed the cops to send it for post-mortem examination. It was only after several hours that the villagers called off their protest on assurance of the cops that they will soon nab the killers.
Reports said that 22-year-old Rahul Yadav(22), hailing from Baluganj locality of Bharthana in Etawah was going in connection with some work when he was intercepted by a dozen youths riding on motorcycles on Wednesday night.
They suddenly whipped out pistols and revolvers and fire volley of bullets at the victim killing him on the spot. They later also stabbed him before fleeing from the spot. The victim tried to save himself from the criminals and even
took shelter at the nearby Dhaba but the criminals chased him and shot him dead.
The death of Rahul, who was son of Ramveer Singh Yadav, Tahaka Block president of the Samajwadi Party and District panchayat member, went like a wild fire and within no time several hundred local residents gathered at the spot to protest the sensational killing. It may be mentioned that
Ramveer is said to be close family friend of Smajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav. Senior officers who rushed to the spot along with local police claimed that prima facie investigation revealed that personal enmity was the reason behind the killing. Yadav’s son Ankur Yadav along with some other kin of Mulayam Singh Yadav, are expected to reach Etawah to attend the cremation.
Meanwhile opposition political parties have condemned the incident and questioned about the law and order situation in the state. UP Congress Committee (UPCC) spokesperson Amarnath Agrawal expressed his concern over the killing saying that there is no control on the law and order and the criminals were having a field day. '' Killing of a youth, that too of a family close to the ruling party proves that Akhilesh Yadav has failed to control crime,'' he alleged.
BJP spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak said here that when the SP leaders and their family members are not safe then how could be the common people be safe in this regime. '' The present SP government has lost control over the criminals in the state and they are doing whatever they like and police has become a mere spectator,'' Pathak alleged.
