Youth plants own murder

Published on:

In a bizarre case, a youth planted his own `murder’ to settle score with his in-laws and his plan suceeded for several years due to the apathy of the cops of Kanpur Dehat.

However, after a decade, he fell into his own trap when his father sought help of a local court to get his wife and other in-laws jailed for 'his' murder. On the intervention of court, the Kanpur Dehat police swung into action and held the youth `alive’ exposing the drama.

Hariom of Jarihapur locality of Mangalpur (Kanpur Dehat) had a tiff with his wife Mamta Devi after which she left him and filed a case in a family court to seek maintenance allowance. Agitated with Mamta’s move, Hariom decided to teach her and his in-laws a lesson. In April 2007, he disappeared and his father Panna lal, contacted the police alleging that his son had probably been murdered by his in-laws who dumped his body in some unknown place to conceal the crime.

After finding the marital dispute, the cops refused to register any case facilitating Hariom to live a peaceful life as a truck driver. His father Panna lal, however, kept making rounds of police station to get a case registered but for the last 10-years, failed to do so.

Recently, someone advised Panna lal to move court which could order the police to get a case registered.  Subsequently, Panna moved court and got an order directing the Kanpur Dehat police to get a case registered against Mamta and her family in connection with Hariom’s murder.

After being forced to register a murder case on April 17 last, the polic in course of probe learnt that Hariom was `alive’ and was a truck driver. Finally on Tuesday, the cops arrested him and have now registered a case against him and his father for lodging a fake FIR against his in-laws.
