In a sensational murder in Bareilly, unidentified persons looted Rs 8 lakh from a youth, killed him and later hanged his body from a tree.

The incident took place in Parora village under Mirganj police station sometime on Sunday but the family learnt about it after they were informed about the body of the victim found hanging by the local residents on Sunday night.

The family lodged a report of loot and murder against unknown persons.

The police sent the body for autopsy and started investigations. They were collecting footage of close circuit televisions installed in the area to identify the criminals.

Reports said that the body of a youth, identified as Shishupal of Thiriya Khurd village in Mirganj, was found hanging from a tree. The police identified the victim with the help of local residents.

The family members claimed that Shishupal had left the house with Rs 8 lakh. As the cash was missing, the family members suspect that some unidentified miscreants intercepted him, snatched the cash and when Shishupal objected they killed him and later hanged the body to make it look a case of suicide. The hands and legs of the victim were found tied together.

The brother of the deceased claimed that Shishupal had left the house at 8 am on Sunday morning to give about Rs 8-10 lakh to a committee. The brother said when he called Shishupal at 11 am, his phone was switched off and after this they started looking for him from place to place and late in the night Shishupal's body was found hanging from a tree in an orchard at some distance from Anubis police outpost.

In another bizarre incident reported from Bareilly district, a woman battered her father-in-law to death. The incident took place when the villagers were holding a panchayat to resolve a dispute between the woman and her in-laws.

The local police swung into action after learning about the brutal killing. They also conducted raids and managed to arrest the woman and her uncle.

According to the reports, Moolchand, a resident of Gautia hamlet under Mirganj police station of Bareilly district, was having a dispute with his wife for the last few days. To resolve this dispute, people from the women's side had reached the village to participate in a panchayat on Sunday. Talks were going on between both the sides, but instead of finding any solution to resolve the issue, the situation took an ugly turn when the woman attacked her father-in-law with a stick and battered him to death with the help of her family members and fled the scene.

The villagers immediately informed the local police about the incident. The police registered a case in this regard and arrested the woman and her uncle. Efforts were being made to nab other family members who were absconding.

A police force was deployed in the village to avert any further clash.
