In a shocking incident reported from Gonda, a youth killed the 12-year-old younger brother of his 17-year-old lover as he caught them in a field.
Surprisingly, the lover, with the help of his father (a former pradhan whose wife is sitting pradhan) later also threw acid over the body before throwing it in the river to conceal the crime.
These sensational facts came to light when the police arrested the girl and her lover on Thursday. Now efforts were being made to nab the father of the accused lover.
Reports said that Deepak Singh (12), son of Raj Kumar Singh of Majra Janabankat of Sirbankat village of Thane Dhanepur area in Gonda, was a student of class 4 in Bal Vidya Mandir’s Pardhayinganj branch. Last Sunday evening, he had left the house to guard the field but did not return home till midnight. His family launched a search for him and after failing to trace him out, his father Raj Kumar Singh lodged a report of kidnapping of his son at Thanepur police station.
During the search, the police recovered the body of the boy in the Visuhi river near Dhobighat in the south of the village last Tuesday. After this, Raj Kumar Singh lodged a report of his son's murder at the Thanepur police station.
The local police started the investigation and learnt that one Amar Verma, a resident of Janabankat locality of the village, was having an affair with Deepak Singh’s elder sister and the duo were seen together on the night after which Deepak went missing and later his body was recovered. The autopsy revealed that the boy was strangled to death and that acid was thrown on his body to burn it.
The cops subsequently picked up Amar Verma on Thursday evening and after four hours of grilling, he confessed to killing Deepak.
Amar revealed that on the fateful day, he and Deepak’s sister were present in the field when Deepak caught them and raised an alarm to call the villagers. Fearing being nabbed, he strangled the boy to death and later shifted his body and kept it outside his home.
Amar said that when his father Mewalal Verma learnt of the killing, he decided to dump the body to conceal his crime. Subsequently, in the wee hours they took the body near the river and first tried to burn it by throwing acid. However, fearing that the victim might be identified later on, they threw the body in the river.
Additional Superintendent of Police Shivraj said that subsequently they arrested accused Amar Verma while a police team was dispatched to nab his father, who is absconding since his son was picked up by police.
