In a sensational killing in Bulandshahr, the brother of a gang-rape victim was murdered by the accused and later his body was hanged from a tree to make it look like a case of suicide.

The killing reportedly took place as the victim refused to make a compromise with the accused involved in the gang-rape.

After learning about the killing, the local police swung into action and claimed to have arrested two of the accused so far.

According to reports, the cops of Aahar police station in Bulandshahr registered a report against two persons named in a gang-rape case. The cops also arrested both the accused.  On last Saturday, five people from the accused side, along with the village head called the victim's brother and asked him to settle the matter. They asked him to withdraw the case or be ready to face the consequences. The victim's brother, however, refused to make a compromise.

On Tuesday, the victim's brother left for some work and when he did not return home for a long time, the family started searching for him. Later in the night, they learnt that his body was found hanging from a tree in the garden of the village. They went there and found several injuries on the body which clearly indicated that the victim was brutally assaulted and hanged, either after death or when he fainted due to assault.

It is said that the victim's brother was pleading in the gang-rape case and the accused and their men were pressurising him for a settlement.

The family alleged that as the girl's brother did not agree for a compromise, he was killed and his body was hanged from a tree.

The victim's father has lodged a report against six people, including the village head, in connection with the murder of his son.

Superintendent of Police of Bulandshahr, BB Chaurasia, said that the body of a person was found hanging from a tree in Aahar police station area. He said based on the complaint of the victim's family, a case was registered against the six accused.

A forensic team has also been set up. Along with collecting evidence from the spot, opinion is also being taken from the medico legal cell.

The SP said that two accused were already arrested and efforts were made to nab the remaining accused. He claimed that further action would be taken after the autopsy report was received.

Meanwhile in Maharajganj, a 17-year-old girl was killed and her mother was injured after some unidentified people attacked them with sharp-edged weapons, police said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night in Rudlapur village, they added.

Police said the mother-daughter duo was attacked by three to four armed people while they were sitting outside their house. The miscreants fled the spot after the attack, they said.

The girl’s body was sent for post-mortem while her mother was admitted to the district hospital and later, referred to the Gorakhpur medical college hospital in a critical condition, police said.

Superintendent of Police Kaustubh said a case was registered and further investigation was underway.
