Mystery shrouded the death of a youth, whose body was found hanging from a pole of a high tension wire in Kotwali Dehat area of Gonda on Tuesday afternoon. The victim was accused of kidnapping, rape and murder of a minor girl.
The police claimed that though they recovered a suicide note from the victim’s pocket, circumstantial evidences pointed it to be a case of `revenge killing’ or a well-orchestrated murder by youths, who wanted to duck charges in the case of kidnapping, rape and murder of a girl.
SP of Gonda, Umesh Kumar Singh said that a probe was underay on both angles and the investigator was waiting for the autopsy report.
A minor girl from Kotwali Dehat area of Gonda was found missing under mysterious circumstances last Sunday afternoon. Her father lodged a case but the local police shooed away the parents asking them to search the girl on their own.
On Monday morning, the girl was brought in a critical condition by a kin of locl resident Ram Kripal Singh. The girl was taken to Mahila Hospital from where doctors referred her to District Hospital but the doctors there refused to admit her and referred her back to Mahila Hospital. Due to the medical negligence, the girl died later on Monday afternoon.
The victim’s father besides accusing doctors for negligence, lodged a case of kidnapping, rape and murder against Ram Kripal Singh, as the girl was last seen with him. However, before the cops could arrest Singh, the matter took a queer turn as Singh’s body was also found hanging from a pole outside the village on Tuesday afternoon.
A suicide note was recovered from his pocket in which Singh reportedly sdaid that he was not involved in thee girl’s rape or her killing and also wished that after his death, his property be given to his cousin Paramjeet Kaur.
The cops said that it seemed that some one planted the note as circumstantial evidences suggested it to be case of murder and not suicide.
To buttress their suspicion, the police said that both hands and legs of the victim were tied with a rope towards the back after which no one could climb a pole and end one’s life. The cops felt that it was either a revenge killing by the girl’s kin or some other accused were involved in the girl’s rape and murder and since Singh was a witness, he was eliminated by the culprits.
