Yogi to be sworn in as 23rd CM of UP after Holi

The swearing-in ceremony of Yogi Adityanath as the 23rd Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh is likely to be held after Holi even as the BJP is gearing up to make it a grand event.

“The swearing-in will be a grand event with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other cabinet ministers being in attendance. LED screens will be put up across the state capital and the event will be live-streamed across the state,” a senior BJP leader said here on Saturday.

He said the BJP is likely to hire LED vans and show the swearing-in function at the block level.

“The final print of the swearing-in function will be ready after Yogi Adityanath holds meetings with the Prime Minister in New Delhi. He is likely to go to Delhi tomorrow and also meet senior party leaders and ministers. He will also take guidelines from senior leaders and the Prime Minister about the formation of his cabinet,” the BJP leader said.

Meanwhile, Yogi has given a go ahead to the bureaucracy to start implementing the promises made by the BJP in the run-up to the assembly elections. The first task before the government is to distribute free LPG cylinders to the BPL families who have got connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Scheme. The BJP had promised that beneficiaries of the scheme would get free cylinders in Holi and Diwali.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday held a luncheon meeting with the BJP workers and congratulated him on the resounding victory in the recently-held assembly elections.

“The BJP won the election because of the hard work put in by its workers. I dedicate this victory to the workers who worked tirelessly. They went from village to village and ensured people come out and vote. In the BJP’s victory, the real heroes are you people,” he said.
