Yogi thanks PM for reservation to upper castes

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing parity in the reservation system and making provision for 10 per cent quota for the economically weaker upper caste people.

In a statement issued in Lucknow on Wednesday, Yogi said this act of the Modi government only buttressed its commitment pt ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’.

“We express gratitude to PM Modi and the Central Cabinet for taking the decision to provide 10 per cent reservation to economically weaker sections of the upper caste. This bill translates the PM’s principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that the decision had brought about parity as the demand for providing reservation to the poor among the upper castes was pending for many years.

He said the National Democratic Alliance government had removed the barrier in one stroke.

When asked whether this bill for the upper castes quota would stand legal scrutiny, the Chief Minister said the government had proposed a bill after taking into consideration all aspects.
