Yogi seeks land from Gujarat CM for UP Bhawan

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has written to his Gujarat counterpart seeking land for the construction of UP Bhawan at Ek Bharat Shresht Bharat complex to come up near the Statue of Unity at Kavedia in Gujarat.

"This is a great proposal of Gujarat government allowing state governments to build their own 'Bhawans' at Ek Bharat Shresht Bharat complex. The suggestion is commendable," Yogi said in his letter which was released to the press on Wednesday.

The tallest statue of Sardar Vallabhbahi Patel, to be called Statue of Unity, is likely to be unveiled on October 31.

Once complete, the Statue of Unity would be the tallest statue of the world. It is being built at a cost of Rs 2,989 crore. The work for this project began in December 2015.

In his letter, Yogi said that earlier on September 12, 2018, the UP government had asked for land around the Statue of Unity. He said if the Gujarat government gave the land, the UP government would build a UP Bhawan for the benefit of the people of the state who visit the place.

It is not clear whether the land will be given free of cost or at concessional rate.
