Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued directives to prepare a work plan to save villages in the flood prone areas and has asked officials to send the detail report by June 15 so that the menace of flood could be controlled this monsoon.

The guidelines were issued in the review meeting held here on Monday when CM interacted with the District Magistrates of flood prone districts.

“There are 26 districts which are `very sensitive’ in view of floods and 14 others which are in the `sensitive’ category. The focus is on these districts to ensure that destruction during floods could be controlled so that we can save human and animal lives besides protecting standing crop,” Yogi said while interacting with the officials.

DM of those districts which were ravaged by the overnight thunderstorm that hit parts of UP were asked to stay back and monitor relief work while their juniors attended the meeting.

CM said last year 22 districts faced the menace of flood. Many bunds and barrages were damaged by the swirling water which led to inundation of large swathe of farmland particularly in eastern Uttar Pradesh. “The Government had released money by November last to carry out preparations. Monitor all these bunds and see the work is done as per specifications,” Yogi said.

The officials have been asked to submit their compliance report by June 15 to the state government. “Any laxity on this part will not be tolerated because this concerns lives of lakhs of people. We need to work before hand to ensure lives and property could be saved,” he said.

CM said that last year the para-military force including the flood wing of PAC had done exemplary work. The training of this wing has already started. Three companies of State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) have been constituted they will work with PAC to provide relief to the people.

“In another decision different departments like agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, home, health and food and civil supplies will work in tandem to extend relief to the villagers,” CM said.
