In another step towards inclusion of women in participatory development and pushing them towards self-reliance for the progress of the state, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will directly interact with women self-help groups (SHGs) across Uttar Pradesh on Friday.
In a virtual programme, Yogi will distribute money out of revolving funds and Community Investment Fund (CIF) to 40,000 SHGs on this occasion.
The interaction is expected to provide an opportunity to the chief minister to get to know, directly from SHG members, about various activities being undertaken by them under the State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM) and how it had impacted their lives.
Aiming to alleviate rural poverty and create more sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural women, the chief minister will disburse a revolving fund of Rs 15,000 per group to around 40,000 SHGs of UP. Besides, a community investment fund of Rs 1.10 lakh per group will be provided to 2,606 groups.
With regards to the production and supply of nutritious supplements, Yogi Adityanath will also provide Rs 45.60 lakh per group to the women of Fatehpur and Unnao under Integrated Child Development Service (Ekikrat Bal Vikas Sewa). “A total of Rs 88.66 crore will be transferred online,” said SRLM Managing Director Bhanu Chandra Goswami.
“The state government is committed to empowering women of the state to be self-sufficient. Since 2017, the government has created over 10 lakh self-help groups as a priority, and more than one crore women are now earning their livelihood and supporting their families,” he said.
Despite the job crisis inflicted by the COVID-19 pandemic, these women SHGs have not only made a living for themselves with the help of UP government’s Rural Livelihood Mission, but have also set an example by providing employment to other rural women and pushing them on the path of progress.
Recently, the UP government took a major step in strengthening the rural economy and encouraging the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission vide which online transfer of funds was done to as many as 97,663 SHGs and their organisations, thereby directly benefiting lakhs of women and their families
